Dance on Camera 2017 laurels
Moving Pictures documentary INTO SUNLIGHT has been officially selected for the 45th Annual Dance on Camera Festival at the Film Society of Lincoln Center. It will have its worldwide premiere at the Walter Reade Theater at Lincoln Center on Saturday, February 4, 2017.

INTO SUNLIGHT brings together a choreographer, her dancers, and a Pulitzer Prize-winning author of the nonfiction book that inspired her bold experiment. David Maraniss’ They Marched Into Sunlight is a chronicle of the Vietnam era that explores the effects of war on those in battle and those at home. The year is 1967, the same year of student protests on the University of Wisconsin campus. The challenge for choreographer Robin Becker is to combine these historic events in Vietnam and on the home front into a full-scale contemporary dance. Director Ron Honsa blends rehearsal and performance footage with interviews with key figures from the book and the author himself. The film comes full circle when the dancers are invited to perform their work in Vietnam, adding another layer of depth to this provocative story of war and its lasting imprint on all of us.
